2025 4⭐ Ty Hawkins (TX) flipped from TCU to SMU last week after being committed to the Horned Frogs for more than a year. His mom told me SMU moving into a power conference played a big role, and Hawkins’ sister ran track and graduated from SMU. Hawkins had also been in contact with Oregon other programs he’d prefer not to share.
“He feels strongly about the opportunity to make an impact right away. He feels very comfortable with Coach King and likes that Coach Lashlee has a long track record of working with QBs of all kinds and that he calls the plays. Ty has always been comfortable at SMU but also wants to play in big games, and the ACC allows that.”
2026 3⭐ Tait Reynolds (AZ) committed to Clemson to play football and baseball with Texas A&M, Miami, Oklahoma, Utah, BYU and others also in consideration. Reynolds picked up a Tigers offer last month, and his high school coach Travis Schureman said his recent Clemson camp played a big role in his decision.
“After he went to camp there, he just knew that was the place he wanted to go. He loved the culture and the way they handle their business. Plus, it is a chance to play baseball and football at the highest level.”
2025 3⭐ Colton Gumino (IL) committed to UCLA over consideration of Florida, James Madison, Ball State, Arkansas State and Marshall. He picked up an offer in May and took an official visit late last month. Gumino credited the coaching staff and education among the reasons for choosing the Bruins.
“UCLA’s holistic approach to player development is crucial to me. The program emphasizes not only athletic prowess but also leadership, character and life skills. The positive atmosphere, camaraderie and shared dedication to success at UCLA resonate with me. I am confident that UCLA is where I can build lasting relationships and make significant contributions to the team.”
2026 3⭐ Michael Johnson (GA) committed to Mississippi State over West Virginia and UCF on Thursday. He landed an offer from the Bulldogs in late January with 10 total Division I offers.
“On my first campus visit, I would say the deciding factor was the campus just feeling like home. The interest the coaches have shown throughout the recruiting process was genuine, and the energy was unmatched. I was extremely impressed with what they offered academically too.”
2026 3⭐ Deagan Rose (CA) committed to Oregon State on Friday over double-digit power conference offers. He told me the Beavers were the favorite from the beginning but considered Oregon, Utah, Fresno State, Arizona State and Auburn. Rose credited his relationship with head coach Trent Brady and OC/QBs coach Ryan Gunderson for choosing Oregon State.
“It felt like a family there. I instantly felt comfortable with Gundy and Bray, and I feel like a priority. The offense they’re going to run looks like it’s perfect for me, and it can develop me to the next level. Also, Corvallis is one of the best college football towns in the nation. Even when it’s not football season, I can still feel it in the air while I’m in Corvallis.”
2026 3⭐ Gavin Sidwar (PA) committed to Rutgers last week and told me the level of interest the Scarlet Knights showed made this a simple decision. He’s been hearing from Syracuse, Pitt, USF, West Virginia and Virginia with 10 Division I offers.
“They were coming after me the hardest. I had the best relationship with them as far as all the schools recruiting me. My dad asked me five times over a two-week period prior committing, ‘What offer don’t you have that would make you hesitate on Rutgers?’ I couldn’t give him an answer, so I locked in my spot.”
2025 3⭐ Jamarian Ficklin (OK) committed to Texas State over UNLV, Tulsa, North Texas and Utah State with 13 Division I offers. He told me he’s excited for the offense head coach GJ Kinne and OC Mack Leftwich have going with the Bobcats.
“I chose Texas State because it is an great environment there. I love what GJ and Leftwich have going on in the offense as well as the tools they are bringing in around me. The main thing I love about Texas State is how heavy they are about relationships, and I feel like I really fit in with the players and coaches really well.”
2025 QB Coleman Carter (MS) committed to Louisiana on Friday. He also considered Southeastern Louisiana with an additional offer from Toledo.
“I have a lot of family down in Louisiana, and I had some coaches who I’ve played for there with some teammates from 7-on-7 going there. “It’s a great place, and I love everything they do there.”
2025 2⭐ Banks Bowen (KS) committed to Tulsa to play quarterback despite interest to play free safety elsewhere. Arkansas State, Central Michigan and Wyoming offered as a QB, in addition to the Golden Hurricane. Bowen told me he considered Kansas State, Iowa State, Arkansas State and Wyoming before landing with Tulsa.
“It’s a great situation for me all around. They were one of the first schools to reach out to me, it’s a nice and easy drive not too far from home, and the coaches have all been great. The facilities and campus look amazing, and I’m excited about Tulsa all around.”
2025 QB EJ Archield Jr. (FL) flipped from McNeese State to Delaware on Thursday. His dad told me the Blue Hens are a bit ahead from a football perspective right now, and Delaware’s engineering program was an important factor. Archield had been committed to the Cowboys for nearly a month and will join a Delaware program that’s transitioning to the FBS in 2025.
“When we visited Delaware, the campus was beautiful. The facilities are top notch and academically, it’s one of the best schools in the country. Coach Sean Goldrich is a awesome person, and him and EJ really hit it off. The relationship with Coach Sean, the facilities, academics and the move to Conference USA and FBS ultimately gave EJ everything he needed. It was too good to pass up I believe.”
2025 3⭐ Braden Atkinson (NC) committed to Mercer with consideration for Boston College, Miami (OH), Austin Peay and Elon. He committed following an official visit to Mercer, and Atkinson chose the Bears with nine Division I offers.
“As soon as I stepped on campus, it felt like home. Talking with all the coaches was great. I felt like I was able to build a personal relationship with them, and I liked how the current players and coaches interacted. I loved how nice the facilities were, such as the weight room, training room, locker room and stadium. And most importantly, I liked how they had a good program for my intended major.”
2025 QB Brady Stober (NC) committed to Samford over Navy, Elon and William & Mary. He credited head coach Chris Hatcher’s resume among the reasons for his commitment.
“I could really see myself fitting in and seeing this as a place where I could be successful. They’ve led passing categories for the last four years. Their past four quarterbacks had professional opportunities, and it’s a testimony to Coach Hatcher’s ability to develop quarterbacks at the next level.”
2025 QB Chase Kwiatkowski (IL) committed to Illinois State on Saturday. He picked up offers from Butler and Valparaiso within the past month, and the most recent came from the Redbirds following a late June visit.
“Illinois State had an amazing staff and facility and made me feel at home when I toured the school. The scholarship given was a full ride, and they offered to pay for college for me, which really intrigued me. They’d also been scouting me for a while and truly showed interest in me as a player and person. I was the only scholarship QB addition to their team in the 2025 class, so that made me feel like I was their guy.”
2025 QB Jackson Byrd (NC) committed to East Tennessee State on Wednesday a little more than a month after landing a Buccaneers offer. He told me he chose ETSU due to the welcoming, family-like environment fostered by the coaches.
“Their high energy and drive to be great resonated with me. The top-notch facilities and vibrant culture in Johnson City, combined with a supportive fan base and beautiful campus, made East Tennessee State University an ideal choice for me. ETSU offers the IT program I am passionate about, ensuring I will have the best opportunities to succeed both academically and athletically.”
2025 3⭐ Cason Carswell (MI) committed to Western Illinois with interest from Michigan State and Miami (OH). Western Michigan was the only other program to offer Carswell outside of WIU.
“The relationship I had with Coach Davis was a big one and the culture he brings. When I went on my visit there, I liked the school and everything it had to offer.”
