COLLEGE FOOTBALL QB REPORT
Quarterback Central | Teams | Players
2026 QB Julian Lewis (GA) released his top eight schools on his Twitter account. This is our first post mentioning a quarterback in the 2026 recruiting class, but Julian βJu Juβ Lewis is likely to be the top QB in the class when player rankings start to roll out. Just about every premier college football program is after him, and his top eight includes Alabama, Oregon, USC, Georgia, LSU, Ohio State, Florida State and Texas A&M.
2024 4-star QB Trever Jackson (FL) is looking to announce his college decision in August, according to Recruiting News Guruβs Ryan Wright. Jackson didnβt provide an exact date but said the programs reaching out to him the most include Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Pitt, UCLA, Texas A&M and Maryland. Jackson is one of two 2024 blue-chip quarterbacks still on the market along with Demond Williams Jr. (AZ), who recently decommitted from the Rebels.
Donovan Smith (Stats) has the edge over Lucas Coley (Stats) for Houstonβs starting quarterback job, according to head coach Dana Holgorsen. Smith spent the last three seasons at Texas Tech, and his 21 games of experience are what are putting him ahead of Coley heading into training camp. Coley played just 11 snaps over the last two seasons at Houston, so heβll need to impress during preseason practice to land the Week 1 starting spot.
DEPTH CHART & INJURY REPORT
Week 1 College football QB depth charts & injuries
Virginia quarterback Jay Woolfolk (Stats) will leave the football team to focus on baseball, according to his Twitter post. This should put an end to however real the Cavaliers quarterback battle was heading into the season, and Monmouth transfer Tony Muskett (Stats) should be the Week 1 starter. Anthony Colandrea (Stats), Jared Rayman (Stats) and Delaney Crawford (Stats) are candidates to take the backup role.
