COLLEGE FOOTBALL QB REPORT
Quarterback Central | Teams | Players
Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian said Quinn Ewers (Stats) will return to the starting lineup for Saturday night’s game at TCU. Maalik Murphy (Stats) started the last two games with Ewers out with a shoulder injury, but he was a full participant in Thursday’s practice, according to Sarkisian. Murphy will revert to his backup role with Arch Manning (Stats) as the third-string quarterback.
NC State head coach Dave Doeren confirmed reports that starting quarterback MJ Morris (Stats) decided to shut his season down so he can use this as a redshirt year. Morris took over as the starter midway through the season when he replaced Brennan Armstrong (Stats), who will move back into the starting role for Saturday’s game at Wake Forest. Doeren said he was surprised when Morris told him his plans to sit out the rest of the year considering he was the starter. He did not say who the backup will be with true freshman Lex Thomas (Stats) as the lone scholarship quarterback left.
Arizona State QB Trenton Bourguet (Stats) will start Saturday’s game at UCLA, according to Sun Devil Source’s Noah Furtado. Bourguet suffered an ankle injury in last week’s loss to Utah, and head coach Kenny Dillingham did not say whether he would be available this weekend during Monday’s press conference. Drew Pyne (Stats) and Jaden Rashada (Stats) are listed as “injured” on this week’s depth chart, so expect both of their extended absences to continue at least another week.

Thursday Game Day QB Notes
Virginia head coach Tony Elliott called QB Tony Muskett’s (Stats) availability for tonight’s matchup at Louisville to be a game-time decision after leaving last week’s game with a foot injury. True freshman Anthony Colandrea (Stats) was forced to enter the loss to Georgia Tech and burned his redshirt in the process. The two are listed as co-starters on this week’s depth chart, and it will be interesting to see if Colandrea takes over the starting role considering the coaching staff no longer has to worry about him potentially redshirting.
