In Today’s Edition, you’ll get a rundown of the latest quarterback action in the transfer portal on the first day of the spring window. Also, several QB recruits revealed their college destination over the last few days with two big-time commitments coming tomorrow.
PROGRAMMING NOTE: I will be going on vacation starting Wednesday through the following Friday. This isn’t a job where I can necessarily take 10 days off from so yes, I will be working on vacation. I envision a lot of in-the-car writing and WiFi battles, so bear with me.

MY TOP THREE
Locklan Hewlett
2025 3⭐ Locklan Hewlett (FL) committed to USF on Monday after reopening his recruitment last month. He told me he rushed his decision after originally committing to Wake Forest and is set to join the Bulls, who recruited Hewlett the hardest since he decommitted.
“The offense is a perfect fit for me, and the staff has shown nothing but love to me throughout this recruiting process. Being able to stay in the Sunshine State is definitely amazing too.” - Locklan Hewlett
Owen Lansu
2025 3⭐ Owen Lansu (IL) will return to Northwestern on Saturday, two weeks after landing an offer from the Wildcats on a visit. Lansu told me he does not have any additional visits scheduled but is in consistent communication with Cincinnati, Louisville, Missouri, Boston College, Kansas, Illinois and Iowa, in addition to Northwestern.
Dan Mahan
2025 3⭐ Dan Mahan (NC) committed to Duke over Wake Forest less than a week after decommitting from Appalachian State. He told me he reopened his recruitment due to increased interest from power conference programs.
“The relationships I have with the coaches at Duke and the Duke education is hard to pass up once you get the opportunity to go to a school like that.” - Dan Mahan
TRANSFER REPORT
Tad Hudson
North Carolina QB Tad Hudson (stats) entered the transfer portal looking for a place where he can compete for the starting job. The former 4⭐ recruit redshirted as a true freshman in 2023 with four years of eligibility remaining. Hudson told me he wasn’t getting the reps he wanted in practice without a chance to compete for the QB1 spot behind Conner Harrell (stats) and Conner Harrell and Texas A&M transfer Max Johnson (stats). The first program to reach out after entering the portal was Appalachian State.
