COLLEGE FOOTBALL QB REPORT
Quarterback Central | Teams | Players
September 11: Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham said QB Cam Rising (Stats) is practicing without limitation, though he has yet to be cleared by the doctors as his torn ACL recovery continues. On this weekβs depth chart, Nate Johnson (Stats) overtook Bryson Barnes (Stats) and would get the start if Rising is out. Barnes has been starting with Johnson coming in as mostly a rushing threat, but Johnson put up much better passing numbers in Saturdayβs win against Baylor. Brandon Rose (Stats) appeared to be the top backup before suffering an undisclosed injury during training camp, and itβs unclear when heβll be available. The Utes will host Weber State on Saturday afternoon.
September 11: Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule said QB Jeff Sims (Stats) did not practice on Sunday night with an ankle injury and will know more in the coming days. He also added itβs not a 4-5 week injury, and Heinrich Haarberg (Stats) and Chubba Purdy (Stats) split reps in practice. Sims left Saturdayβs loss to Colorado with a high-ankle injury and wanted to go back in the game, but Heinrich played every snap except for one play after his helmet came off. Rhule said Purdy cannot truly be himself right now with an undisclosed injury. The Cornhuskers are 10.5-point home favorites over Northern Illinois on Saturday night after opening at -13.5.
September 11: Kansas head coach Lance Leipold said starting QB Jalon Daniels (Stats) did not practice much on Sunday with Jason Bean (Stats) taking all the team reps. Daniels made his season debut in Fridayβs win over Illinois as he battles through ongoing back tightness. This could be as simple as an extra rest day but considering this has been an issue for a while, Danielsβ status is worth monitoring this week. The Jayhawks are 27.5-point road favorites over Nevada on Saturday night.

Week 3 college football QB depth charts & injuries
September 11: Arizona State head coach Kenny Dillingham said QB Drew Pyne (Stats) should be healthy enough to play this week after going down with a hamstring injury during camp. Dillingham did not reveal who will start at quarterback after true freshman Jaden Rashada (Stats) played every snap in Saturdayβs loss to Oklahoma State. The Sun Devils are 3-point home underdogs to Fresno State after opening at +2.5.
