Good afternoon college football fans, bettors and high school football players competing for state championships this weekend. I’ve been locked in to the Wisconsin titles this week, and there’s a team called the Badger Badgers down by one in the D2 championship right now. I have a great deal of respect for the lack of creativity in the mascot name.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL QB REPORT
Quarterback Central | Teams | Players
Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin confirmed QB Jaxson Dart (Stats) will return for the 2024 season during his appearance on Reb Talk. This news was quietly broken last week in an interview with 2024 4-star quarterback Trever Jackson, who credited Dart’s expected return to be one of the reasons he recently decommitted. Check out that interview with Recruiting News Guru’s Ryan Wright. Dart has one year of eligibility remaining following the 2023 season with Walker Howard (Stats) and Austin Simmons (Stats) behind him.
2025 4-star QB Bekkem Kritza committed to Penn State live on the 247Sports YouTube channel. The Colorado prospect was coming off a weekend visit to see the Nittany Lions play Michigan before announcing his decision. A day after Kritza’s decision went public, Penn State announced the firing of offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Mike Yurcich, and it’s unclear who will fill that role permanently. Kritza told The Athletic’s Audrey Snyder that head coach James Franklin hinted at this possibility before he committed. The Nittany Lions also had 2025 4-stars Ryan Montgomery, Malik Washington and Matt Zollers on campus, and it seems like they’re open to adding another QB to the class.
Kansas QB Jalon Daniels (Stats) announced he will be back with the Jayhawks in 2024 through his Twitter post. Daniels has been battling a back injury since training camp, and his last game appearance came in Week 4. This has led to plenty of transfer rumors throughout the season, but this should end that speculation. If he plays in fewer than two games the rest of this year, Daniels has two more years of eligibility remaining after the 2023 season. Jason Bean (Stats) has started in his place every week since his absence and is in his final year of eligibility. It’s unclear who will start on Saturday against Kansas State with Daniels likely out again, and true freshman Cole Ballard (Stats) would be the guy if Bean is unavailable with a head injury.

New Saturday QB Notes
USC head coach Lincoln Riley said there have been no specific discussions toward whether QB Caleb Williams (Stats) will participate in the bowl game. The Trojans are out of the Pac-12 Championship race, so Saturday’s game against UCLA could be Williams’ last college football game. There has been plenty of chatter about a potential return for 2024, but that seems incredibly unlikely. If Williams decides to sit out of the bowl game, Miller Moss (Stats) would likely be the guy with true freshman Malachi Nelson (Stats) potentially set to get some work as the Trojans preview what could be an interesting quarterback battle in the offseason.
