Jake Merklinger (GA) didn’t make a surprise announcement yesterday afternoon when he picked Tennessee as his college choice. After years of falling short of expectations, the Vols have to be thrilled with the Josh Heupel era as he heads into Year 3. Tennessee flirted with the College Football Playoff last season and just signed 5-star Nico Iamaleava (Stats) to the 2023 class.

The recruitment of Dylan Raiola (AZ) continues to go back and forth with plenty of teams considered to be the frontrunner to add him. After decommitting from Ohio State, favorites have included Georgia, USC and Nebraska. Of the three programs, the Bulldogs are the only team with a quarterback already committed to the 2024 recruiting class with 4-star Ryan Puglisi.

2024 4-star Samaj Jones releases top 4

Samaj Jones (PA) narrowed his list to Penn State, Oklahoma, Cincinnati and West Virginia yesterday. He’s coming off a weekend visit with the Sooners, though they appear to be the favorite for 4-star Michael Hawkins, who is set to commit on April 8. None of the four teams mentioned have a 2024 quarterback committed to this point as Jones looks gets closer to making an announcement.
