The transfer portal window officially opens tomorrow, so expect plenty of announcements later today. Seventy-six quarterbacks entered or are expected to enter the portal already, and I expect that number to triple from now through the end of the spring window in May.
We’re also hitting the stretch run of the 2024 recruiting class with Early Signing Period set to begin on Dec. 20. A few players re-opened their recruitments this weekend including Michael Van Buren, who decommitted from Oregon yesterday as one of the top-rated QBs in the class.
When you combine the transfer and recruiting updates with the latest depth chart and injury notes, that leads to bonus Sunday morning newsletter. Enjoy.
The newsletter publishes five times per week with three of them exclusively available to paid subscribers, who give $5.99/month or $59.99/year for every newsletter and depth chart/injury post with access to everything on the Quarterback Central page.
TRANSFER PORTAL REPORT
Notre Dame received another prediction to land Duke transfer quarterback Riley Leonard (Stats) from On3’s Justin Hopkins. It’s tough to find information on Leonard that does not include the Fighting Irish as his ultimate landing spot for his final year of eligibility. They seem to be in a great spot to land a one-year rental for the second season in a row with Sam Hartman (Stats) out of eligibility.
Minnesota is hosting former New Hampshire quarterback Max Brosmer this weekend, according to On3’s Pete Nakos. Brosmer has one year of eligibility remaining and announced offers from Buffalo, Western Kentucky, Western Michigan and the Gophers. He also added a Wake Forest offer, according to 247Sports’ Chris Hummer. Gophers’ starting QB Athan Kaliakmanis (Stats) and true freshman quarterback Drew Viotto (Stats) announced they will be in the transfer portal last week with Cole Kramer (Stats) as the most likely option to start the bowl game.
Boston College quarterback Emmett Morehead (Stats) announced he will enter the transfer portal with two years of eligibility remaining at his next stop. Morehead played in 16 games over three years with the Eagles and lost his starting spot to Thomas Castellanos (Stats) early this season. Castellanos still has multiple years of eligibility remaining with true freshman Jacobe Robinson (Stats) as the likely No. 2 option looking toward 2024, though Matthew Rueve (Stats) could also be in the mix.
