The first weekend of the transfer portal opening was a light one especially for quarterback movement, but there should be more action coming soon. Many programs are still going through spring practice, and players may enter the portal at any time through April 30.

Quinn Ewers wins Texasβ QB1 battle
SCOOP: Texas Athletics
Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian said itβs pretty clear Quinn Ewers (Stats) will be the Longhornsβ starting quarterback this fall, following Saturdayβs spring game. This news should cool down the Arch Manning (Stats) hype for at least a little bit, but his next task will be competing for the backup job with Maalik Murphy (Stats), who played well in Saturdayβs contest.
Arkansas lands 2025 QB Grayson Wilson
SCOOP: Grayson Wilson
Grayson Wilson became Arkansasβ second quarterback commitment in the past week as the in-state quarterback prospect joined 2024 4-star KJ Jackson, who committed last week. Wilson doesnβt have a star rating from any of the three major recruiting sites early in the 2025 recruiting cycle, but that should change soon. Arkansas offered him last month and has been on campus multiple times.
Notre Dame QB battle could go into fall
SCOOP: ESPNβs Adam Rittenberg
Wake Forest transfer Sam Hartman (Stats) should still be considered a heavy favorite to be the starting quarterback at Notre Dame this season, but head coach Marcus Freeman is unlikely to name a starter this spring. Hartmanβs challenger is Tyler Buchner (Stats), who suffered a shoulder injury during the second game of the season and didnβt play again until the bowl game. Itβs hard to believe the best quarterback in the transfer portal will be a backup, but weβll wait on the Irish making an official decision.

Western Michigan QB battle will extend into fall camp
SCOOP: WZZM13βs Mark Skol
Western Michigan head coach Lance Taylor said he doesnβt expect to name a starting quarterback until fall camp. Jack Salopek (Stats), Treyson Bourguet (Stats) and Mareyohn Hrabowski (Stats) made starts last season, and they appear to be the top candidates to land the Broncosβ starting QB spot when the season kicks off this fall.
