QB Headlines
Florida - Graham Mertz is set to start on Saturday vs. Texas A&M, according to 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz. He’s not listed on the SEC Availability Report after suffering a concussion in the season opener and missed the 45-7 win over Samford. Head coach Billy Napier said Mertz and true freshman DJ Lagway practiced with the first- and second-team offense. He intends to play Lagway every week after making his first start. Also, Aidan Warner entered the blowout vs. Samford, and Clay Millen did not despite the two being listed as co-backups to Lagway heading into the game.
Auburn - Hank Brown will start on Saturday vs. Mexico, Auburn Live’s Justin Hokanson reported. Head coach Hugh Freeze said Brown would get his share of reps this week. He previously added Payton Thorne has been the best QB in practice, but it has to be carried into game. Thorne played every snap in the 21-14 loss to Cal and is listed as the starter on the depth chart, followed by Brown, Holden Geriner and true freshman Walker White. Still, expect Brown to be the guy this weekend.
Texas A&M - Conner Weigman is a game-time decision for Saturday at Florida with an upper body injury, ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported. He’s listed as questionable on Friday’s SEC Availability report with Saturday’s update coming 90 minutes before the game. Marcel Reed entered ahead of Jaylen Henderson in the 52-10 win vs. McNeese State despite the two continuing to be listed as co-backups behind Weigman. Reed appeared to have the edge for the No. 2 spot in camp, and this is more evidence that he’s likely the top option if Weigman is out this weekend.

Quarterback depth charts reflect whatever the team releases during the week, but they’re not required to post them or be truthful. As for injuries, the SEC requires availability reports three days before every conference game, followed by daily updates including 90 minutes prior to kickoff. The Big Ten requires availability reports two hours before kickoff of every game, and the MAC requires availability reports three hours prior to kickoff of every game.
Next to the player names, you’ll see years of eligibility remaining heading into the 2024 season and the highest high school star rating from 247, On3 and Rivals if they had one. The number of 2024 games played and quarterback snaps are via Pro Football Focus, and I’ll update the post-Week 3 news and numbers in the Week 4 articles.
Every recruiting commit is included in the team sections to give you a complete look at every current and future FBS quarterback room.
Eligibility Notes
*Redshirt is still available to use. Players with a redshirt available may play up to four games in a season without it counting toward a year of eligibility. Army, Navy and Air Force do not allow redshirting.
The NCAA approved a blanket waiver for the 2024-25 season that states conference championships, bowls and College Football Playoff games do not count toward the four-game limit.
2020 COVID season didn’t count toward a year of eligibility.
**Indicates player is serving an LDS mission OR attending service academy prep school. I assume service academy players are in the prep school until they’re listed on the roster.
Scroll below the QB Depth Charts & Injuries section for every new update that wasn’t in Friday’s post so you don’t need to go through all 134 teams for new info. You’ll also see the latest QB recruiting and transfer portal updates.
