QB Headlines
Utah - Cam Rising is unlikely to play Saturday at Utah State after suffering a finger injury on his throwing hand in the 23-12 win over Baylor, Action Network’s Brett McMurphy reported. The finger is not broken, and he’s expected to return next week vs. Oklahoma State. Earlier this week, head coach Kyle Whittingham said the injury is not real serious and that he might be back this weekend. True freshman Isaac Wilson played every snap after Rising’s and would be the guy if Rising is forced to miss a game. Whittingham said there’d be a competition between Brandon Rose and Sam Huard to be Wilson’s backup. Rising is listed as the starter with Wilson behind him on this week’s depth chart. In July, Rising said the plan is not to be back in 2025 despite being granted an eighth year of eligibility, according to Action Network’s Brett McMurphy.
Texas A&M - Conner Weigman is listed as questionable for Saturday at Florida, though it’s unclear what he’s dealing with. Marcel Reed entered ahead of Jaylen Henderson in the 52-10 win vs. McNeese State despite the two continuing to be listed as co-backups behind Weigman. Reed appeared to have the edge for the No. 2 spot, and this is more evidence that he’s likely the top option if Weigman is out this weekend.
Florida - Graham Mertz is not listed on the injury report for Saturday vs. Texas A&M after suffering a concussion in the season opener and missed the 45-7 win over Samford. Head coach Billy Napier said Mertz and true freshman DJ Lagway practiced with the first- and second-team offense. He intends to play Lagway every week after making his first start, and it’s unclear who will start on Saturday vs. Texas A&M without a depth chart released yet. Also, Aidan Warner entered the blowout vs. Samford, and Clay Millen did not despite the two being listed as co-backups to Lagway heading into the game.

Next to the player names, you’ll see years of eligibility remaining heading into the 2024 season and the highest high school star rating from 247, On3 and Rivals if they had one. The number of 2024 games played and quarterback snaps are via Pro Football Focus, and I’ll update the post-Week 3 news and numbers by Monday.
Every recruiting commit is included in the team sections to give you a complete look at every current and future FBS quarterback room.
Eligibility Notes
*Redshirt is still available to use. Players with a redshirt available may play up to four games in a season without it counting toward a year of eligibility. Army, Navy and Air Force do not allow redshirting.
The NCAA approved a blanket waiver for the 2024-25 season that states conference championships, bowls and College Football Playoff games do not count toward the four-game limit.
2020 COVID season didn’t count toward a year of eligibility.
**Indicates player is serving an LDS mission OR attending service academy prep school. I assume service academy players are in the prep school until they’re listed on the roster.
