“Writing is never done, it’s just due.” I’m not sure where he got it from or if that was an original thought, but my journalism professor told me that once. That’s the motto I’m going with in today’s newsletter because if I wrote up every name that entered the transfer portal over the last 24 hours, you might be getting this newsletter tonight, and I want to keep it consistent in this being a morning delivery.
Well over 100 names are in the transfer portal from the quarterback position at this point following the first day of the window opening, and we still have nearly a month to go.
Today’s edition is filled with the biggest news that came out of a busy day in the portal, along with a few depth chart & injury notes in addition to the latest in recruiting.
The College Football QB Newsletter publishes for free three times per week, and two additional posts are sent to paying subscribers exclusively. A paid subscription also comes with the weekly depth chart & injury notebook for all 133 QB rooms, which is updated daily on the site. Quarterback Central shows everything we do here.
TRANSFER PORTAL REPORT
Wisconsin has been in touch with Washington State transfer QB Cameron Ward (Stats) since Friday when he announced he’d enter the transfer portal, according to On3’s Pete Nakos. The report also said Florida State, Miami, Ohio State, Oregon, Washington and USC emerged as names to watch for Ward, who has one year of eligibility remaining and has not ruled out entering the 2024 NFL Draft. The Badgers will need to replace Tanner Mordecai (Stats) in 2024 with Braedyn Locke (Stats) as the top option on the roster looking head to next season. All of the teams mentioned need to replace their starting 2023 quarterback, and the Seminoles are targeting Oregon State transfer DJ Uiagalelei (Stats) in addition to Ward, according to 247Sports’ Steve Wiltfong.
