Kansas State head coach Chris Klieman said he has not settled on a quarterback plan for Saturday’s home matchup against Houston. Will Howard (Stats) and true freshman Avery Johnson (Stats) split reps fairly evenly in a blowout win over TCU, and it feels like that will be the case again this weekend. Klieman said we’ll have to wait until Saturday to find out.
Penn State will have 2026 4-star QB Dia Bell (FL) back on campus this weekend heading into its matchup against Indiana, according to his Twitter post. Bell visited the Nittany Lions last month for the whiteout game, and he has since visited Miami and LSU. We are way early in this recruiting cycle, though two 2026 quarterbacks have already committed. Based on the number of power programs going after him, there should be plenty of interest in Bell moving forward.
49ers QB Brock Purdy is in the concussion protocol, head coach Kyle Shanahan said. He is highly unlikely to play on Sunday against the Bengals especially on a short week coming off a Monday night game, and Sam Darnold is expected to make his first start of the season. Darnold has thrown just one pass this season.

Hardison missed the last three games with an arm injury with Cade McConnell (Stats) starting the last two matchups, and Kevin Hurley (Stats) has been the backup. Jake McNamara (Stats) missed a few games as well, and it’s unclear if he will be available.
