Blue-chip QB Stone Saunders will make college decision Friday (FREE)

We’ll hit a recruiting dead period in August after a big weekend of visits as prospects look to schedule game day trips for the fall. Three FBS quarterbacks revealed their college decisions on Sunday with more on the way this week. Additionally, training camp already began for some programs with a few updates on QB battles to start the week.

2025 4-star QB Stone Saunders (PA) will announce his college decision on Friday, according to his Twitter account. It’s tough to say any team is ahead of Kentucky to land a commitment from Saunders heading into the weekend. Two predictions recently came in on the On3’s prediction machine, two on Rivals’ FutureCast and a 247Sports crystal ball pick. The announcement will take place at 6:25 p.m. ET and can be seen on ABC27 News.

Virginia Tech picked up a commitment from 2025 3-star QB Kelden Ryan (TX), according to his Twitter account. After signing two quarterbacks in the 2023 recruiting class, the Hokies now have commitments from Ryan in 2025 and 4-star Davi Belfort (FL) in 2024. Ryan picked up a Virginia Tech offer more than a year ago and visited twice since March including a trip to Blacksburg in June.

Arizona State head coach Kenny Dillingham said a starting quarterback will be decided no later than a week before the season opener during Pac-12 Media Days. The two likely candidates are Trenton Bourguet (Stats) and Notre Dame transfer Drew Pyne (Stats) with true freshman Jaden Rashada (Stats) also in the mix. Bourguet started five games last season, while Pyne started 10 games with the Fighting Irish filling in for an injured Tyler Buchner (Stats). The Sun Devils will open the season against Southern Utah on Thursday night during Week 1, so a week out before the first game is Aug. 24.

Week 1 College football QB depth charts & injuries

Ohio quarterback Kurtis Rourke (Stats) is ready for fall camp, running back Sieh Bangura told WTAP’s Ryan Wilson. Rourke tore his ACL in mid-November and appears to be participating during training camp. He’s a three-year starter with the Bobcats and was named the MAC Offensive Player of the Year in 2022. Ohio will open its season in Week 0 with a road matchup with San Diego State.
