COLLEGE FOOTBALL QB REPORT
Quarterback Central | Teams | Players
Arizona State true freshman QB Jaden Rashada (Stats) will start the season opener, according to Arizona Sportsโ John Gambadoro. What a wild eight months for Rashada. He signed with Florida during the Early Signing Period before an NIL mess led to him landing with the Sun Devils. Rashada entered a three-man quarterback competition that also included Trenton Bourguet (Stats) and Notre Dame transfer Drew Pyne (Stats), who has been out with a hamstring injury. Itโs unclear whether Pyne will be available Week 1.
Georgia Tech head coach Brent Key named Haynes King (Stats) the starting QB, according to Atlanta Journal-Constitutionโs Chad Bishop. King had been in a tight battle with Zach Pyron (Stats) and Zach Gibson (Stats) after transferring in from Texas A&M this offseason. King was in and out of the Aggies starting lineup last season before hitting the portal, and Pyron is expected to be the backup heading into the season with Gibson operating in the No. 3 role.
Oregon State QB DJ Uiagalelei (Stats) will be the Week 1 starter, according to The Oregonianโs Nick Daschel. The former Clemson quarterback had long been considered the favorite, and he pulled away from Ben Gulbanson (Stats) and true freshman Aidan Chiles (Stats) midway through fall camp. Gulbranson is the most likely backup to begin the 2023 season.

Syracuse head coach Dino Babers said QB Garrett Shrader (Stats) was a full participant in Saturdayโs scrimmage, according to Syracuse.comโs Emily Leiker. Shrader is recovering from offseason elbow surgery that forced him to miss spring practice, and this is a great sign for him being available for Week 1. The top backup options are Carlos Del Rio-Wilson (Stats) and Braden Davis (Stats).
