Information comes from a variety of team sources, press conferences and lots of reading. This will never be perfect, but I do my best to make the most accurate resource for FBS quarterback news. Every recruiting commit is included in the team sections to give you a look at every current and future FBS quarterback room.

Eligibility Notes

• Players may play up to 4 games in a season without it counting toward a year of eligibility if they have a redshirt available.

• 2020 COVID season didn’t count toward a year of eligibility.

• *Indicates redshirt is still available to use.

• **Indicates player is serving an LDS mission OR attending service academy prep school. I assume service academy players are in the prep school until they’re listed on the roster.

Injury Designation Notes

• Probable — Player suffered an injury but finished the most recent game and looked reasonably healthy.

• Questionable — Player suffered an injury in the previous game and did not return OR has yet to return from an injury that forced him to miss the most recent game.

• Out — Player is out indefinitely or will miss the rest of the season.

Next to the player names, you’ll see years of eligibility remaining heading into the 2024 season and the highest high school star rating from 247, On3 and Rivals if they had one. The number of 2024 games played and quarterback snaps are via Pro Football Focus.

Auburn Tigers

Aug. 27, 2024 - Payton Thorne is the starter, followed by Hank Brown, Holden Geriner and true freshman Walker White. Thorne played every game in 2023, and HC Hugh Freeze announced Brown beat out Geriner to be the backup last week after making his debut in the 2023 bowl game. Geriner played five games as a reserve last season.

QB Room Notes

Big Ten

Michigan ➡️ HC Sherrone Moore said the coaching staff is close to a decision and confirmed Alex Orji and Davis Warren are the top options, according to Maize N’ Brew’s Von Lozon. Over the last few days, there were reports of Orji expected to start, and Jack Tuttle is working through an elbow injury. Orji and Tuttle played six games in reserve roles in 2023, while Warren appeared in three last season.

Iowa ➡️ Cade McNamara is the starter, followed by Brendan Sullivan and Marco Lainez. Sullivan had been pushing for the QB1 spot, but it appears McNamara was able to hold on. McNamara started the first five games of last year before a season-ending torn ACL on Sept. 30, 2023. Sullivan played seven games with four starts for Northwestern last season and committed to Iowa in May. Lainez played one game in 2023.

Northwestern ➡️ HC David Braun said he won’t announce a starter until game day, according to Inside NU’s Ethan Segall. This is likely down to Mike Wright and Jack Lausch with Ryan Hilinski potentially in the mix. Wright played 12 games with Mississippi State in 2023 and started three after a Will Rogers injury. Lausch played 10 games as a reserve last season.
