Michigan State added a commitment from 2024 3-star QB Henry Hasselbeck (MA), according to his Twitter account. Hasselbeck had been committed to Maryland to play lacrosse but will focus on football with the Spartans. Hasselbeck had plenty of Power 5 interest from programs including Boston College where his dad Matt Hasselbeck played. He also had plenty of interest from Pitt before committing.
Cincinnati added a commitment from 2024 4-star QB Samaj Jones (PA), according to his Twitter account. Jones’ finalist list also included Oklahoma, West Virginia and Penn State, so this is a strong recruiting win early in the Scott Satterfield era at Cincinnati. The Bearcats appear to be in a strong position for the future at the position as Jones is the second straight 4-star commitment, joining Brady Drogosh (Stats) from the 2023 recruiting class.
James Madison landed 2024 3-star QB Alberto Mendoza (FL), according to his Twitter account. Mendoza is the brother of Fernando Mendoza (Stats), who is heading into his redshirt freshman season with California. Alberto Mendoza received plenty of Group of 5 and FCS interest, and the Dukes sent him a scholarship offer last month as they lock down a 2024 quarterback.
