Eligibility Notes

• Players with a redshirt available may play up to four games in a season without it counting toward a year of eligibility.

• The NCAA approved a blanket waiver for the 2024-25 season that states postseason games do not count toward the four-game limit. Everybody can play in the conference championships, bowl games and College Football Playoff games.

• 2020 COVID season didn’t count toward a year of eligibility.

• Service academies do not allow redshirting.

• *Indicates redshirt is still available to use.

• **Indicates player is serving an LDS mission OR attending service academy prep school. I assume service academy players are in the prep school until they’re listed on the roster.

Information comes from a variety of team sources, press conferences and lots of reading. Every recruiting commit is included in the team sections to give you a look at every current and future FBS quarterback room.

Next to the player names, you’ll see years of eligibility remaining heading into the 2024 season and the highest high school star rating from 247, On3 and Rivals if they had one. The number of 2024 games played and quarterback snaps are via Pro Football Focus, and I’ll update the post-Week 1 news and numbers next week.

QB Room Notebook - Week 1

SEC

Alabama ➡️ Dylan Lonergan and Austin Mack are competing for the No. 3 spot, according to Tuscaloosa News’ Anna Snyder. Lonergan played one game last season, and Mack did not appear in a game with Washington. Jalen Milroe is a returning starter after taking over the role early in the 2023 season.

🔥Arkansas ➡️ Taylen Green is the starter, followed by Malachi Singleton, true freshman KJ Jackson and Blake Boda. Green started the first nine games with Boise State in 2023 before losing his starting spot but returned to QB1 after a season-ending injury to Maddux Madsen. Singleton did not appear in a game last season, and Boda played three as a reserve with Coastal Carolina.

🔥Auburn ➡️ Payton Thorne is the starter, followed by Hank Brown, Holden Geriner and true freshman Walker White. Thorne played every game in 2023, and HC Hugh Freeze announced Brown beat out Geriner to be the backup last week after making his debut in the 2023 bowl game. Geriner played five games as a reserve last season.
