In Today’s Edition, you’ll get the most updated FBS quarterback depth charts and injury reports heading into the first full slate of the 2024 season. Before we get into it, a fairly big news item broke this week that could result in the end of the spring transfer portal window, and this would go into effect immediately.

As a subscriber, you’ll get QB depth charts and injury reports with notes on every FBS quarterback room, and it’s updated multiple times per week during the season.

Information comes from a variety of team sources, press conferences and lots of reading. This will never be perfect, but I do my best to make the most accurate resource for FBS quarterback news. Every recruiting commit is included in the team sections to give you a look at every current and future FBS quarterback room.

Eligibility Notes

• Players may play up to 4 games in a season without it counting toward a year of eligibility if they have a redshirt available.

• 2020 COVID season didn’t count toward a year of eligibility.

• *Indicates redshirt is still available to use.

• **Indicates player is serving an LDS mission OR attending service academy prep school. I assume service academy players are in the prep school until they’re listed on the roster.

Injury Designation Notes

• Probable — Player suffered an injury but finished the most recent game and looked reasonably healthy.

• Questionable — Player suffered an injury in the previous game and did not return OR has yet to return from an injury that forced him to miss the most recent game.

• Out — Player is out indefinitely or will miss the rest of the season.

Next to the player names, you’ll see years of eligibility remaining heading into the 2024 season and the highest high school star rating from 247, On3 and Rivals if they had one.

June 3, 2024 - True freshman KJ Jackson and Blake Boda are competing for the third-string spot, a team source told me. Boda played three games as a reserve with Coastal Carolina last season.

QB Room Notes

Michigan QB Alex Orji is expected to start, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel on College GameDay. This follows last week’s report that said Jack Tuttle will not be the starter initially as he works through an elbow injury. Orji and Tuttle played six games in reserve roles in 2023, while Davis Warren appeared in three last season.

Nebraska true freshman Dylan Raiola was named the starter on the team Twitter account. Raiola has been the favorite all offseason over Heinrich Haarberg and true freshman Daniel Kaelin. Haarberg played 10 games and took over the starting role after Jeff Sims’ injury in 2023 with eight starts until his ankle injury. Haarberg could have a role on offense outside of quarterback. Raiola is listed as the starter with Haarberg as the backup ahead of Kaelin on the team depth chart.

Iowa HC Kirk Ferentz said if the game was tomorrow, Cade McNamara would start, followed by Brendan Sullivan and Marco Lainez, according to Des Moines Register’s Tyler Tachman. McNamara started the first five games of last year before a season-ending torn ACL on Sept. 30, 2023. Sullivan played seven games with four starts for Northwestern last season and committed to Iowa in May. Lainez played one game in 2023.
